Class Offerings
The Sequoia Sequence
A unique seventy-five minute practice pulling from a wide range of movement modalities to achieve balance in line with the season. On the first day of each season, a new Sequoia Sequence begins and students spend each Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn exploring the current practice. As the seasons transition, the previous Sequoia Sequence is archived and available On Demand for students wanting to continue any of the prior practices.
Rooted
Yoga asana emphasizing its postural and meditative roots. Rooted classes allow students to develop balance through mindful expression of postures, breathwork and stretching. Sequoia yoga asana strives for each student to achieve a better understanding and appreciation of their body and mind through consistent Rooted practice.

Wildfire
Wildfires can activate the cones of the Giant Sequoia thereby allowing the seeds to germinate and grow. Our Wildfire classes are similarly designed to challenge students mentally and physically with the aim of growing strength, mobility and stamina. Wildfire classes can pull from a variety of disciplines, including, for example, resistance training, CARS (Controlled Articular Rotations), calisthenics, Pilates, dance and barre
Release
Release is the structure of letting go with intention. Release classes begin with a series of Yin passive asanas that foster slow release and targeting of the deep connective tissues of the body. Yin is followed by Restorative postures that allow for joint supported relaxation of the body and mind. The final element of Release is Yoga Nidra wherein students are guided into a deep state of conscious awareness. Release classes are offered at the end of the day as a preparation and invitation to rest.
Grove
Grove is meditation in the presence of community. In partnership with Paper Lantern, all regularly scheduled Grove classes are offered in the spirit of dana, giving without expectation of return. Grove classes are open to all and always free of charge. The first morning and last evening classes are silent sitting practices in the tradition of zazen. These sessions may include a morning or evening chant and will be opened and closed with the bell. (Please visit www.paperlantern.org to watch a video to learn more about silent sitting meditation.) Other Grove sessions focus on guided practices of, for example, mindfulness, loving-kindness, gratitude and concentration. Grove meditations do not pay homage to any divinity or god and are open to all, no matter religious affiliation.
